saturday . october . twenty eight . two thousand

paul and i watched alfred hitchcock's "lifeboat" last night. not one of his best films, but a nice little premise: the whole film takes place upon the lifeboat after the ship goes down.

hitchcock manages to make his ubiquitous appearance in the form of a newspaper ad on the back of a newspaper one of the castaways is reading.

this was written by john steinbeck and is essentially a big ass anti-german propaganda piece.

favorite quote: "you are a low person, aren't you darling? maybe that's why i like you."

favorite new discovery: tallulah bankhead is one freaky bitch. her face looks as though it were carved from bathroom soap. i cringed every time she was splashed with water...i kept expecting her cheekbones to melt away. she's also my kind of broad.

there isn't a whole lot of mystery going on and the suspense lies mostly on the nauseous side.

— will the life boat sink?

— um. should he be drinking ocean water like it was cheap hooch?

and, my favorite:

— is it wise to amputate that guy's leg during the thunder storm?

favorite remark my husband made:

me: awwww. isn't that sad? the baby died.

paul: yeah . . . but at least they have dinner now.
