sunday . march . four . two thousand one i received this email this afternoon. it makes reference to a little journal entry i wrote regarding harry potter and how i was not at all enraptured by him. this is how a girl named "alison" responded: From: Alison To: Melysa Subject: Harry Potter is Communist I think that the Harry Potter books are Communist! I mean, look at the teachers! Dumbledore reminds me of Joseph Stalin, Snape-Hitler, and Harry Potter-the devil himself! And let me tell you, I think the author was smokin some wacky weed when she wrote these books. I mean, I couldn't think of that s**t unless I was on something!! My friend at work and myself have it all laid out about that- the author was on weed, and she had a dream about the devil wearing glasses and carrying a wand! I mean, I have nothing against wizards, in fact I have a tattoo of a wizard on my back, but these books are cracked out. my response: From: Melysa To: Alison Subject: Re: Harry Potter is Communist my dear alison, thank you ever so much for your recent correspondence. it is when we agree about the things we hate that we come together as human beings. i am forced to mention, however, that i must disagree with some of your rhetoric. see, as much as i agree with your right to, in turn, hate harry potter and still support wizards, through permanent skin alterations or otherwise, i have to take a stand about "wacky weed" and communists. alison, some of my best friends are pot smoking communists....well, actually i'm also married to a pot smoking communist. ok alison, here it is: i, myself, am a pot smoking anarchist. (not exactly the same thing, but close alison...very close.) so, i won't stand in the way of your wizard fetish and you couldn't possibly talk me out of my plans to smoke a marijuana cigarette and then over throw our government, one thing is perfect and clear: harry potter is bad. very, very bad and wrong. and i think my friends woody harrelson and karl marx would agree with me. take care, melysa
